Somernites Cruise 2017
Somerset, KY
Somernite's Cruise is a weekend long event held each year during the last weekend of August. Friday nights feature unlimited passes at London Dragway for $10, along with a gathering at Somerset Mall in the evening.
Saturday kicks of with a run on the Rattlesnake through Daniel Boone Nation Forest similar to Tail of the Dragon, with a shine n show beginning in historic downtown Somerset that runs 1pm-5pm featuring 800 Mustangs on average. After the show everyone heads down to the strip on US27 and people line the streets to watch impromptu street races and other craziness that local law enforcement seem to turn a blind eye too.
Sunday everyone makes the 50 minute drive up to Stanford for the Kruz n Stangs club show at First Southern Veterans Park on SR 150 to raise money for Patriot Paws.
This is a great way to spend the weekend with both your family and your extended Mustang family. All the weekends activities and events are kid friendly and very inexpensive.

Mistook this for the Batmobile from the rear at first. The Porno Red interior and 45th badges had me going for a moment but then I determined it wasn't a true 2009 45th anniversary Mustang at all, and also not a real S197 for that matter! lol

Kruz n Stangs
Stanford, KY
4th annual Kruz n Stangs show at First Southern Veterans Park in Stanford KY raising money for Patriot Paws service dogs. This show has extremely reasonably priced activities and food plus lots of giveaways. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
Dunking booth- 3 balls for $1. Money well spent in my book!

This was an all makes show with a lot of classic Detroit steel on display as well as a few bikes

This Torino was one of my favorites. It appeared to be a restored a driver but I didn't get to talk to the owner. Build sheet revealed that it was a factory 4 speed car with a straight solid body and very clean.

Race to indy 2017
Race to Indy is an annual Ford show at the end of July hosted by Mustang Club of Indianapolis. The show is held on the lot of Sharp Cars 10320 E Pendleton Pike Indianapolis, IN 46236

This 1969 428 SCJ has an interesting story behind it also, click on the pic to check it out. I've seen it around at a few shows locally but never knew the story behind until now.

I seen quite a few folks wearing yellow shirts walking around. They appear to be in some sort of gang called Queen City Mustangers. I was able to snap a few pics of them shaking down the local Croftgate dealer. The guy with the dark grey shirt and sunglasses was and enforcer and body guard to the ladies, who I assume were shot callers in the gang.
Kind of a scary moment but luckily no one was hurt. |

Came across this this sweet looking four eyed Fox body. Built 2v 5.0 and very clean looking. The owner refused me a test drive though.

The show was about 150-200 cars in size this year. The turn out was as far as quality was excellent. Few gems in the mix too, including a REAL Shelby 350GT, 2008 Shelby GT-C and other pretty impressive metal from the back in the day.
