John Purchased this GT Premium brand new in September 2009 with 139 miles. He purchased this V-8 example shortly after riding in a friend's 2007 Stage 2 Roush Mustang. It was at that point he says he knew he had to have one for himself.
Even though the car came equipped with the factory exterior appearance package, it only remained in factory form two months. The luster of the additional appearance embellishments like hood scoop and premium wheels didn't shine very long for him. Enter the aftermarket parts catalogs... |
The interior of the car has remained stock, with the exception of the pioneer head unit. The same can't be said for the rest of the car. The factory 18 inch premium polished wheels were unbolted in favor of a set of chrome Foose rims. Staggered 18x9 in front and 18x10 out back to make tire rotations a breeze. Next the car was lowered with H&R 2" sport springs on all four corners. Body roll is kept in check with BMR front and rear sway bars and strut tower brace. A set of BMR lower control arms were swapped in to provide hook up for the rear meats under hard launches.
The renovation carried on under the hood as well. The restrictive Ford exhaust manifolds where ditched in favor of a pair of Pypes long tube headers spilling into to a catless off road X-pipe. Ford Racing Hot Rod Cams replaced the factory bump sticks to provide more grunt under heavy footed loads. Steeda under drive pulleys compliment the larger cams and reduce accessory drag for quicker revs. And finally, oxygen is pulled in thru a JLT cold air intake and then channeled into a larger BBK 62mm throttle body before it gets mixed with fuel and goes BANG!
A Diablo 93 octane tune controls the fire, making roughly 330 HP to the wheels to yield a low 12 second time in the quarter mile. John couldn't accurately say what the car tops out at, but with the rev limiter and speed limiter removed via the tuner, he says he has buried the needle way past the 150 mph mark etched on the speedometer.
Fast forward to now, and the odometer shows a lowly 27,259 in green glowing glory but he's not afraid to drive car how it should be driven. His most recent conquest was a Vette that staged on him at a red light. Impromptu street races prove a cars' story best and John's story ended happily by a bumper length or so.

Although not a daily driver, the car regularly sees street action and a little show time. He recently added Corsa axel backs, painted brake calipers adding to the TruFiber ram air hood, wing mod and polished exhaust tips. This striking combo has earned 3 First place finishes, 4 Second place, 2 Third place trophies and one best in class award!
John plans to add a supercharger in the near future and then consider the build "done" but I am calling BS on that statement right here and now.
