Shaun Carlson's Shelby GT500 Convertible
McPherson, Kansas

Does the name Shaun Carlson ring a bell but the black Shelby GT500 doesn't?
Well that's because when we created the contest the rules were simple: 1. You must be the owner. 2. Enter as often as you want until you win. 3. Each car can only win once. Sometimes your second impression is better than the first... |
Ring a bell now? Bridget is Shaun's old Mustang, which also bears the cross of being 45thmustang.com home page's splash photo!
Shaun first graced the pages of 45thMustang.com in 2016 when he entered Bridget, the Vista Blue GT convertible and won July's Mustang of the Month contest in a tight victory over some other well deserving Mustangs.
In his shameless quest for free Croftgate and other club goodies, Shaun found a way to circumvent contest rules and bought an entirely different Mustang to enter. The voters have spoken, and here we are again... with our first ever two time winner!

Shaun traded Bridget in on this GT500 in September of 2016. He apparently went to work right away and installed Eibach Pro Spring kit for a 2 inch drop, ridding the Shelby of the stock 4x4 look.
Next a convertible boot was added along with roll bar and LED lighting. The stock Shelby mufflers were also replaced with SLP Loudmouth axel backs, proof that there is no local noise ordinance in McPherson. |
Under the hood is dressed in the the usual GT500 hardware: punched out block, forged internals and twin screw with an insatiable appetite for air and premium fuel. Shaun has also added a painted radiator cover with extensions and pressed both a 45thMustang.com and a Club Member decal to each side near the cowl. It is rumored that the 45thMustang.com decal alone makes well over 400 additional wheel horsepower (compared to only 150hp for run of the mill V-Tec, JDM, and Cobb decals) and grants the owner instantaneous and irresistible sex appeal. At only $15.00 shipped for both, the value is easily underestimated. Click here to get yours.
Shaun says the short term future holds more upgrades including a 2.5" super charger pulley, larger Ford Racing throttle body and cold air intake. This will push the stock number of 500hp pretty close to the 700 mark! Also inline with his hatred for traction, tires and fuel economy, a 4:10 rear differential gear swap is in the works along with 20x10 wheels outback.

Originally Bridget was purchased as a dream car, a gift to himself from retirement from the United States Marine Corp, but it appears he had more time to dream as a civilian and needed more car!
Plucked from local dealer stock, this beauty only had 12,764 miles on it. Even with a drop top, it still retains the new car scent. Which I suspect will soon be replaced with the smell of burnt rubber and painted ladies, given the nature of the future mod list. |
