August Mustang of the Month

Kimber

Chuck Flurer
Illinois
Registry #02204

Back in 1986 Chuck graduated high school and purchased a 1970 Mach 1 much like this one.  He tore asphalt with it for over 20 years but life happens, so they had to part ways.  He says he planned to buy another Mustang from the same era again one day....

...One day turned out to be 10 years later!
This Torch Red 45th spent the winter months at a local dealership waiting for Chuck to take a look.  April of 2105 he finally stopped by and took the 3 valve home with him to use as a daily driver.

The late Carrol Shelby once said "These cars are meant to be driven", so enjoy the Hell out of all of it - not just the look of it when it is all clean!" Sporting over 150,000 miles now, this car does much more than hold down the garage floor!
Chuck has dubbed the car "Kimber" after a pistol he recently acquired before buying the car in which a buddy suggested because the guns grips matched the color of the car.

Kimber came dressed from the factory with the exterior appearance package which included the 18" polished rims and factory hood scoop.  Chucks' local Ford dealer added the Silver Horse Flush mount quarter windows, Cervini side scoops, and Street Scene grille to compliment the white Lemans Style stripes.

HR springs on all four corners eliminate the factory wheel gap.  Chuck mated the springs to Koni Orange shocks and struts to keep the Michelin Pilot Sports stuck to pavement.  BMR adjustable panhard bar and Silver Horse Racing honeycomb rear deck panel finish off the rear of the car while a set of Pype Bomb axel backs provide the sound track for the daily commute.

The interior is mostly stock except for the addition of a push button starter on the dash.  The charcoal black leather is remarkably clean with little signs of wear, comparable to cars with only a 1/3 of the mileage.
Due to the car's mileage and need for daily reliability, he has no immediate plans to beef up the stock 300 horses under the hood even though the motor uses no oil and still runs perfect.
