Scott Gruoner's 2009 Mustang California Special

Scott purchased this Performance White California Special in August of 2014 from everyone's favorite auction site...eBay! Although the car only had 1086 miles when he picked it up, it already had an extensive mod list including the Roush M-90 supercharger covered in chrome and other Roush branded goodies.
Scott picked up where the previous owner left off and added Morosso battery, fuse box and brake fluid reservoir covers, Brisk Racing spark plugs and MSD super coils. He has dubbed the car "Storm Trooper". |
California Specials come factory equipped with two tone leather seats. Interior additions include the cue ball shift knob atop a Roush short throw shifter, GT500 pedal covers, Roush boost vent pod boost gauge, billet E-brake handle and leather stitched arm rest cover. Ron Davis at the GT/CS Registry supplied the dash plaque between the two center stack vents. This Mustang is 1080 of 1703 California Specials produced by Ford in 2009.
Storm Trooper rides on a set of staggered 20" CS69 wheels with lowering springs. The suspension received upgrades as well, including BMR lower control arms and adjustable upper, QA1 struts upfront and Koni's in the rear. Scott added a one piece aluminum drive shaft that caused a few clearance problems in the tunnel so he turned to other owners in the Nature Coast Mustangs Club in Crystal River Florida for help. It was then he discovered the car had a 4:10 rear end instead of a 3:31 or 3:55 gear usually found in the factory setup.
The exterior was treated to a Shelby rear wing, sequential turn signals, side louvers and painted roof spoiler to finish off the look. |
Scott entered his first show within a month of taking delivery of her in 2014 at the Hooter's in Downers Grove, Illinois edging out his buddy's 2008 GT500 for the Trophy. Since then, he has spun the odometer up to 17,000 miles and still shows Storm Trooper pretty regularly.
